Vic Tindall CBE - An Appreciation
Our oldest international, Vic was educated at Wallasey Grammar School mainly under the tutelage of Maurice Eggleshaw, who was an excellent teacher and disciplinarian – you were beaten if you were seen kicking a round ball!
Vic was a superb rugby player (he was the only three-quarter to hold his place in the 1951 England team). Injury finished his rugby career prematurely but not before he played for New Brighton, Cheshire (when it really meant something), the Barbarians and of course his country.
What we tend to forget is that he was also a outstanding athlete and was Victor Ludorum at both school and Liverpool University.
A non smoker and drinker Vic has led the perfect life, devoted to his profession he is the author of over a dozen books on his speciality and richly deserves the CBE awarded in 1992.
Vic has been happily married for over 50 years to Brenda and they have two children, Simon and Sally as well as seven grandchildren (all boys).
On behalf of everyone at New Brighton Rugby Club we convey our condolences to his family.
